Kazumi KawakamiPresident, Japan Club

My name is Kazumi Kawakami, President of Japan Club.

I was born in Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, Japan. After graduating from Meiji University in 1976, I moved to Mexico to study cultural anthropology. In 1979, I began working at Nissei Sangyo Co., Ltd., where I worked for four years before temporarily returning to Japan. From 1983 to 1986, I worked at the Shibuya school of ECC.

In 1987, I founded a trading company in Mexico and became involved in the parallel export of Volkswagen Beetle vehicles to Japan.

Around the same time, I participated as a coordinator in the opening of several Mexican restaurants in Tokyo, including Fonda de la Madrugada and Agave. I was also involved in establishing the Roppongi gallery of Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante.

In 1990, at the age of 37, I founded Japan Club and opened three restaurants, managing a team of approximately 40 employees. In 2005, I obtained the PIC real estate certification from AMPI. Based in Mexico City, I then launched Japan Club as a real estate company.

In 2012, I co-founded Redac Mexico with the U.S.-based company Redac Inc. and served as its president until 2017. During this time, the company arranged housing for approximately 300 expatriate employees of Mazda Motor Corporation in the Bajío region of Mexico.

Today, through the management of Japan Club, I continue to focus on supporting Japanese clients with real estate investment, housing searches, and daily life in Mexico.
